Director of Property Accounting

Finance - Accounting
Remote (US)Full-time

About the Role

Stakeholders VR is acquiring a portfolio of vacation rental property management companies and needs a seasoned accounting leader to own the financial operations that support them. As Director of Property Accounting, you'll build and lead the property accounting team, oversee accounting operations across the full portfolio, and play a central role in integrating acquired companies into our consolidated platform. This is a role for someone who wants to build something — the processes, standards, and team infrastructure don't fully exist yet, and you'll have a direct hand in creating them.

What You'll Own

Property Accounting Operations You oversee end-to-end accounting operations across all acquired portfolio companies — including trust account management, bank reconciliations, owner statement generation, payment processing, occupancy tax remittance, and general ledger recording. Initially you'll be hands-on across the full non-integrated portfolio; as your team ramps up, you'll transition to oversight, quality control, and escalation management.

Team Leadership You build, lead, and develop a team of Property Accountants — each responsible for a defined portfolio of companies. You're accountable for their performance, their development, and the standard of work they deliver to the portfolio companies.

Integration & Standardization You lead the financial integration of newly acquired companies onto our accounting systems and standards — driving harmonization of charts of accounts, policies, and procedures across the portfolio and contributing to our NetSuite ERP integration alongside the Technology and Corporate Accounting teams.

Controls & Compliance You partner with the VP, Controller to design and implement the internal controls framework for property accounting operations. You own trust accounting standardization and reconciliation procedures, and serve as the primary point of contact for revenue-related audit and tax reporting requests across the portfolio.

Cross-Functional Partnership You work closely with field operations, the Director of Corporate Accounting, and senior leadership to ensure accounting accuracy, surface P&L insights, and support M&A due diligence as the company continues to acquire and grow.

What We're Looking For

Must-haves

  • A strong technical accounting foundation — deep understanding of property management accounting, internal controls, and GAAP principles
  • Proven people management experience — you've built or led a team and know how to develop talent and hold a high bar
  • A customer service and relationship mindset — you're comfortable being the accounting face of HQ to field operators and building trust with the companies you support
  • Experience in the vacation rental, hospitality, or property management industry
  • A track record of driving standardization and process improvement across multiple entities
  • Comfort with ambiguity — you can operate effectively before all the answers exist

Preferred

  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years managing a team in a multi-entity or operational accounting environment
  • CPA license (strongly preferred)
  • Experience with property management accounting systems (Guesty, Streamline, Track, or similar)
  • Experience with NetSuite (strongly preferred)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Prior experience in a PE-backed, high-growth, or roll-up environment
  • M&A integration and post-acquisition financial workstream experience
  • Change management experience in a financial transformation context

Why Join Us

This is a genuine build opportunity — not a role where you're stepping into an established function and maintaining it. You'll have real ownership over how property accounting works at Stakeholders VR, the latitude to define the team, the processes, and the standards, and direct visibility with senior leadership including the CFO and VP, Controller. As the company continues to acquire and scale, this role grows with it — in scope, in team size, and in strategic importance.

If you're energized by complexity, ownership, and the chance to leave a real mark on a fast-moving company, this is the role for you.
