Senior Accountant

Finance - Corporate Accounting
Remote (US)Full-time

About the Role

SHVR is building something that doesn't exist yet — a centralized, consolidated accounting function spanning 20 newly acquired short-term vacation rental property management companies, with more acquisitions to come. We're looking for a Senior Accountant to join the Corporate Accounting team at the ground floor and help us build it.

This isn't a steady-state role. In the near term, you'll be embedded in integration work — assessing subsidiary books, helping clean them up, and migrating them into our centralized NetSuite environment. Over time, as the function matures, you'll transition into supporting core accounting operations including month-end close, financial reporting, and the development of tools and playbooks that will drive every future integration. If you're looking for a defined job with clear edges, this probably isn't it. If you want to build something meaningful and grow fast, keep reading.

What You'll Own

Subsidiary Assessment & Integration To start, you will support in the assessment and integration of our first wave of acquirees. You’ll help assess the state of their books and support the cleanup and migration process into our centralized General Ledger. You'll work directly with subsidiary accounting staff and contractors to get it done — which means clear communication, diplomacy, and the ability to drive progress through people you don't directly manage.

Month-End Close You'll own expense accounting — including COGS, accruals, prepaids — and fixed assets as part of our centralized close process from day one. As the function matures, your close ownership will grow. Future responsibilities might include payroll accounting, debt and equity, and consolidation.

Balance Sheet Reconciliations You'll prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations for your assigned areas as a core part of the close cycle.

Variance Analysis & Financial Reporting You'll perform monthly variance review and provide meaningful commentary, and you'll assist in drafting financial statements and footnotes for leadership and stakeholders. Integration Playbook Development By the six-month mark, you won't just have lived through the first wave of integrations — you'll be helping us codify what we learned. You'll contribute to building the tools and playbooks that will make every future acquisition smoother than the last.

What We're Looking For

You need to bring

  • 1-3 years public accounting (Big 4, a plus) or startup environment experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Strong communication skills and the interpersonal range to work effectively with people across teams, levels, and companies you don't directly control
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in an unstructured, fast-paced environment
  • Skill in integrating cutting-edge technology and AI tools into your workflows

It's a significant plus if you have

  • Progressive accounting experience in a private/industry role, including working within a month end close cycle, posting journal entries, and owning balance sheet reconciliations
  • NetSuite experience
  • QuickBooks proficiency — almost all of our subsidiaries run on it today
  • Familiarity with any Property Management Software (Guesty, Track, Streamline, or similar) — this is rare and genuinely valuable here
  • Experience with AP and corporate card platforms like Ramp, Bill.com, Coupa, Expensify, Tipalti, Brex, Airbase, etc.
  • Experience with a banking platform – JP Morgan would be a huge plus
  • FloQast or similar close management tool experience
  • Comfort with AI tools like Claude
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • CPA license

Why Join Us

SHVR's CEO has called this company a rocketship — and the accounting team would agree. We're closing 20 acquisitions this month alone, building a centralized function from scratch, and doing work that will define how this company operates for years. You'll get exposure to systems implementations, multi-entity consolidation, integration workflows, and financial reporting that most accountants don't see until much later in their careers — and you'll get it all at once.

The team you're joining is small, experienced, and genuinely enjoys this kind of work. We're not looking for someone to fill a seat. We're looking for someone who finds complexity interesting, builds things well, and wants to grow. For the right person, this role comes with a clear path to expanded ownership, a title increase, and people management within a few years — earned by performance, not time served.
